Ticket to Tomorrow
For strings and percussion
Grade 5.0 (Professional level) Ticket to Tomorrow embodies time’s relentless pull from minute to minute and second to second until the future becomes now, only to slip by awareness into the past as the day repeats, greeted with despair or joy. Performance suggestions: Ticket to Tomorrow uses antiphonal elements and is best heard with 2nd Violins to the right of the conductor, Violas next to the 2nd violins, and Celli next to the 1st Violins with the Bassi behind the Violas. Down by the Salley Gardens
For full orchestra
Grade 2.0 This arrangement allows directors to use any complement of winds, brass, and percussion with all parts doubled in the string section. For young orchestras, this arrangement of Down by the Salley Gardens is an excellent opportunity to add Irish ornaments to the melody and harmony in the string sections. |
